Mara & Moss is a Swedish family-run safari company based in East Africa, creating bespoke journeys for travellers who want to experience more than the usual tourist route.

We are not a traditional tour operator.

Our trips are built around the people travelling with us, their interests, pace, personalities and idea of a great adventure. That might mean hiking through dramatic landscapes, going for a morning run somewhere unforgettable, finding the best local food, discovering the most picturesque hidden places, or creating the perfect set-up for a family travelling with children.

We want our guests to experience the real East Africa: the people, the landscapes and the places that still feel untouched.

That means fewer tourist traps and standard itineraries, and more meaningful encounters, local knowledge and places you might never find on your own.

We design tailored journeys for families, groups of friends and solo travellers, combining iconic highlights with lesser-known gems and experiences that feel personal and connected to place.

With more than a decade of living and travelling in the region, we offer honest, on-the-ground guidance and access to a trusted network of local partners. From choosing the right camps and lodges to arranging guides, drivers and logistics, every journey is built from real experience rather than an off-the-shelf package.

Alongside our bespoke trips, we also host a limited number of curated “chapters” each year, themed group journeys across Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda and Rwanda, designed to be immersive, personal and a little different from the ordinary.
